Live swing music comes back to Oxford.
We are thrilled to be welcoming two great friends of Oxford Lindy Hoppers to play for us at Revival Day.
Afternoon 12pm – 5pm, Benoit Viellefon Hot Club
Our afternoon dance from 12pm to 5pm will feature the Benoit Viellefon Hot Club. We have loved Benoit ever since he first played our events in 2013. The Hot Club is a band with a unique identity made up of some of the greatest musicians on the London jazz scene.
Fronted by Benoit himself on guitar and lead vocals, the band perfectly embody the spirit and sound of a bygone era and are a treat for dancing feet! Watch out for their version of Tiger Rag which is always popular with our Shag dancers.
Evening 7:30pm – Midnight, The Big R Big Band
The Big R Big Band are making their fourth trip to Oxford and have been sensational every time!
This 16 piece Big Band hail from Bristol and have a big sound to match their name. Dashing, debonair, dandy and dapper, this the Big R are firm favourites. With great sound and huge personality. They are sure to fill the floor and swing the Union to it’s foundations.
Our venue – The Oxford Union
We are privileged to welcome you to the world-famous Debating Chamber of the Oxford Union for Revival Day! The Union has been home to Oxford Lindy Exchange since 2014 and is not normally open to visitors. It is a great opportunity to visit and dance in this historic Oxford landmark. We will have exclusive use of the Debating Chamber and Gardens.
Revival Day is supported by Oxford City Council’s Culture Fund. We are very grateful to the City for their support.
