Which class should I come to?

This is specifically targeted to absolute beginners and people who have not done any Lindy Hop before.

This is our beginners class for the fundamentals of Lindy Hop. We recommend that you do this class along with Foundation or Level Two.

This is our improvers class and is suitable for those who have done at least two terms of Level One classes and who want to improve technique and skills. To get the best out of this class you should know the main footwork patterns, and core moves like the Swing Out, Lindy Turn and side by side Charleston.   We recommend taking this class with Level One to begin with.

This is a ‘Bootcamp’ style class where we focus on different themes over three week blocks. This class is suitable for dancers who have completed at least two terms of Level 2, and we recommend that you combine this class with Level 2 to begin with.

What should I expect from a class?

  • All our classes are drop-in. You can come along any week and it doesn’t matter if you miss one!
  • There is no need to bring a partner. All of our classes are fun and social.
  • We rotate partners throughout our classes. This is a great way to meet people and learn by dancing with different partners.
  • No special clothing is required to dance Lindy Hop – just make sure you are wearing something comfortable and be aware that you will get very warm! We recommend that you wear shoes without too much grip: flat or low-heeled shoes with smooth or slightly slippery soles are ideal.
  • Drinking water is available but we do not provide disposable cups. Please bring your own re-useable cup or bottle.

How much do classes cost?

  • Sunnyside Swing is £6 for one class and £8 for two classes
  • Social dancing only is £3.
  • We accept card payments or pre-booking only.

Where do I find you?

Sunnyside Swing is upstairs at the East Oxford Community Centre.  It is easily reached by Bus from Oxford City Centre on routes 1, 5, 10, 11 and 12.
