The Bands
Elise Roth & her High Standards
Performing for the first time in Oxford are the inimitable Elise Roth and her High Standards! @eliserothmusic is one of the hottest vocal talents on the vintage jazz scene and will be backed up by some of the country’s finest jazz musicians. We’re thrilled to welcome them as the opening act of Oxford Lindy Exchange 2025!
The Shirt Tail Stompers Big Band
The Shirt Tail Stompers are one of the country’s best bands for swing dancers, with an almost obsessive devotion to recreating the sound of 1930s jazz and a packed schedule playing at sold-out swing dance events across Europe.
They’ve blown the roof off at Oxford festivals before, but this is the first time we’re hosting them in their full big band lineup! Don’t miss it!
The King Bees
The King Bees are a Blues ensemble that share a love for the golden era of the early fifties blues sound made popular by Blues men such as Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, Little Walter, and BB King among others. Music that would shape and sharpen what was to come and serve as its foundation becoming truly timeless music. Come and join us on a journey of discovery of the roots of Western music.
This is open to dancers who have booked the Weekend Pass or Saturday Only-pass.
The Jim Wynn Swingtet
Rounding out the weekend, our Sunday band is The Jim Wynn Swingtet!
They’ve played our last three exchanges in a row, and we’re having them back for a fourth on the hop because they’re just that good! This time, Jim and the band will be leading a musicality taster before playing us out at the end of the weekend with guaranteed good vibes.
The Venues
The Randolph Hotel
The big bands and all tasters will take place in The Randolph Hotel’s stunning ballroom space, which provides a huge dance floor, fantastic acoustics, and is air-conditioned! The hotel itself is a historic Oxford city landmark.
Oxford Lindy Hoppers have negotiated a discount for dancers who may want to stay at the hotel for the event. The code is GMEET, for 15% off the best available rate, applicable for a minimum two-night stay, includes breakfast and is non-refundable. Opened in 1864, the Randolph is a purpose-built hotel standing proudly opposite the Ashmolean Museum, the world’s oldest university museum. Before being the location of The Randolph Museum, Beaumont Street was the location of Beaumont Palace, the birthplace of both Richard the Lionheart and John, King of England. The Randolph has featured in many of the Inspector Morse books and later television series written by Colin Dexter. The main bar located near the entrance of the hotel is named the Morse Bar after the protagonist, as the author was known to write many of the novels in the bar (previously called Chapters Bar).

Oxford University Parks
Enter by the Keble gates on Parks Road, and you will find us by the Cricket Pavillon with a selection of games and music.
You can stock up on your picnic supplies at the groceries or cafes in the City Centre or Little Clarendon Street.
Accessibility fund
We have a wonderfully welcoming scene in Oxford. We’d like everyone wanting to join us regardless to be able to do so, regardless of their financial situation. To keep costs as low as we can, the organisation and staffing of OLX is entirely by volunteers.
But you can also help: an optional donation is presented at the point of ticket purchase, which goes to a distribution fund to provide access to dancers. We aim to distribute as much of it as possible, and any unclaimed funds will be donated to a local charity that shares our aims to make music and dance available to disadvantaged people. The final tally will updated on our website after the event. Thank you for helping us be more inclusive.
